- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons almond extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs, adding one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the almond extract.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
- Distribute the batter evenly into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost with almond buttercream once cooled.
Notes
