Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Incorporate the eggs, adding one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the almond extract.
  4. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
  5. Distribute the batter evenly into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Frost with almond buttercream once cooled.
