Description

A delightful Southern dish featuring crispy bacon and tender green beans sautéed with garlic and onion, creating a perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5–7 minutes. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic in the skillet with the bacon drippings and olive oil until the onion turns translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Add the trimmed green beans, stirring to coat. Pour in the chicken broth, and season with salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Simmer the mixture, cover the skillet, reduce heat to low, and cook for 25–30 minutes until the beans are tender yet vibrant.
  5. Finish by stirring in the reserved bacon pieces just before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Monitor the cooking time to avoid mushy beans and adjust seasonings to your taste.
