Description
A delightful Southern dish featuring crispy bacon and tender green beans sautéed with garlic and onion, creating a perfect balance of flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5–7 minutes. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
- Sauté the onion and garlic in the skillet with the bacon drippings and olive oil until the onion turns translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add the trimmed green beans, stirring to coat. Pour in the chicken broth, and season with salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
- Simmer the mixture, cover the skillet, reduce heat to low, and cook for 25–30 minutes until the beans are tender yet vibrant.
- Finish by stirring in the reserved bacon pieces just before serving. Enjoy!
