Description

Deliciously soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls perfect for the Christmas season, filled with warm spices and topped with a creamy icing.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and salt to the yeast mixture and mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread melted butter over it.
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the buttered dough.
  8. Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make the icing and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling.
  • These rolls can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
