- 2 Sweet Yellow or White Onions
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 tsp Salt
- Oil for Frying
Instructions
- Slice the onions into rings, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Soak the onion rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Drain the onion rings and dust them lightly with plain flour.
- Dip the onion rings into the seasoned flour mixture.
- Fry the coated onion rings in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain them on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
