Description
Delightful oatmeal raisin bars with a perfect blend of sweet, buttery notes and a chewy texture, perfect for any time snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your 9×9 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray for easy removal.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt until uniform.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, use a spatula or mixer to cream together the softened butter and sugars thoroughly. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully blended.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Gently stir in the raisins, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- Spread Mixture: Pour the mixture into the greased baking pan, and spread it evenly with a spatula, smoothing the surface.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven, baking for 20-25 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Cut: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, slice into bars and serve!
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Prepare your batter a day in advance and refrigerate it for best flavor. Avoid overmixing for soft bars.
