Description

Soft and fluffy homemade hot dog buns perfect for summer barbecues or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and honey in a mixing bowl and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and flour; stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the risen dough, divide into 10-12 equal portions, and shape each into a bun.
  6. Arrange the shaped buns on a baking tray lined with parchment, cover, and let them rise for another 30–45 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the buns for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Brush with melted butter immediately after baking and cover to maintain softness.

Notes

Experiment with spices or toppings for unique flavors. Store buns in a sealed container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
