A rich and creamy potato casserole, layered with velvety cream, garlic, and gooey cheese, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil the sliced potatoes in a large pot of salted water for about 5-7 minutes until just tender.
- Mix the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl until well combined.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of a greased casserole dish, then pour half of the cream mixture over them, followed by half of the shredded cheese.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and top with the remaining cheese.
- Dot with small pieces of butter on top.
- Bake covered with foil for 25-30 minutes, then remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
Make ahead and store in the fridge; it reheats well. Add veggies or flavored cheeses for customization.
