Description

A rich and creamy potato casserole, layered with velvety cream, garlic, and gooey cheese, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil the sliced potatoes in a large pot of salted water for about 5-7 minutes until just tender.
  3. Mix the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl until well combined.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of a greased casserole dish, then pour half of the cream mixture over them, followed by half of the shredded cheese.
  5. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Dot with small pieces of butter on top.
  7. Bake covered with foil for 25-30 minutes, then remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before serving and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Make ahead and store in the fridge; it reheats well. Add veggies or flavored cheeses for customization.
