Description

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until thoroughly combined.
  3. Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well incorporated.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin, which is normal.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and gently tap them on the counter to release air bubbles.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting and enjoy!
