Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl, then gradually add to the butter mixture until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden but the center is soft.
  7. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Sprinkle granulated sugar on top of cooled cookies and caramelize with a kitchen torch.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze cookies in a single layer, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to three months.
