Celebrate summer with these vibrant Tie-Dye Cupcakes that are soft, buttery, and filled with fun colors and flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box cake mix (vanilla or funfetti)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water or milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Food coloring (red, white, and blue)
  • Frosting (white or cream cheese)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cupcake pan with liners.
  2. Combine the cake mix, eggs, water (or milk), and vegetable oil in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Divide the batter into three bowls, adding red food coloring to one, blue to another, and leaving the third uncolored.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the colored batters into the cupcake liners, swirling with a toothpick to create a tie-dye effect.
  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
  7. Frost generously with white frosting and sprinkle with colorful sprinkles if desired.

Notes

For a rich flavor, substitute milk for water. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting to achieve the best results.
