Description
A rich and creamy Latin American dessert, Three Milk Cake offers a delightful blend of textures and flavors with every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cinnamon for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Beat the eggs and sugar in a large mixing bowl until pale and fluffy, about 5–7 minutes.
- Mix the dry ingredients: In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, then gradually incorporate it into the egg mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the soaking mixture by whisking together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and remaining heavy cream until smooth.
- Poke holes in the cooled cake using a fork or toothpick and generously pour the milk mixture over it. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.
- Whip the remaining heavy cream with vanilla until soft peaks form, then spread it over the soaked cake.
- Garnish with cinnamon, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Prepare the cake a day in advance for optimal soaking. You can also add flavors like rum or coconut extract.
