Description

A rich and creamy Latin American dessert, Three Milk Cake offers a delightful blend of textures and flavors with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Beat the eggs and sugar in a large mixing bowl until pale and fluffy, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, then gradually incorporate it into the egg mixture until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Prepare the soaking mixture by whisking together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and remaining heavy cream until smooth.
  7. Poke holes in the cooled cake using a fork or toothpick and generously pour the milk mixture over it. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.
  8. Whip the remaining heavy cream with vanilla until soft peaks form, then spread it over the soaked cake.
  9. Garnish with cinnamon, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the cake a day in advance for optimal soaking. You can also add flavors like rum or coconut extract.
