Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the chopped pecans.
- In another bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, milk, and egg.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a circle about 1 inch thick.
- Cut into wedges and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter scone, add more maple syrup.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- These scones can be frozen before baking for up to 2 months.
