Ingredients

- 1 cup sourdough starter (discard)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch brownie pan.
- Mix the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy.
- Add the sourdough starter, eggs, and vanilla extract; stir until combined.
- Whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth it out to distribute evenly.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing into squares.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or freeze for longer storage.
