Description

Delicious salted caramel butter bars with a crunchy crust and a gooey caramel center, topped with a sprinkle of sea salt.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar using your electric mixer until fluffy.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour, oats, and salt until fully combined.
  4. Press half of the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a crust.
  5. Spread the caramel sauce evenly over this layer.
  6. Crumble the remaining dough mixture over the caramel, adding the chopped nuts if desired.
  7. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Cool completely before slicing into bars.
  9. Sprinkle sea salt on top before serving.

Notes

These bars can be made a day in advance. For a gluten-free or dairy-free version, substitute the flour and butter as needed.
