- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup chocolate fudge for filling
- Chocolate ganache for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry mixture and beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
- Stir in the boiling water carefully; the batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Level the top of one cake layer and hollow out a small space in the top layer for the fudge filling.
- Fill the hollowed space with chocolate fudge.
- Stack the second layer on top, aligning it over the fudge-filled layer.
- Cover the entire cake with chocolate ganache and chill until set.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy!
