Instructions

- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth.
- Roll the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into squares or circles.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the beignets in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
