Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip chicken wings in buttermilk, then coat with the flour mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the chicken wings in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. In a separate saucepan, combine gochujang, honey, and soy sauce over medium heat until well mixed.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked, toss it in the spicy sauce until well coated.
  7. In another saucepan, heat heavy cream and add shredded cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  8. Serve the spicy chicken topped with cheese sauce and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • Adjust the level of gochujang to control the spiciness.
  • For extra crunch, double fry the chicken wings.
  • Serve with pickled radish for a traditional touch.
