Instructions

- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk until just combined.
- Fill the pans about two-thirds full with batter.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Make the filling by whipping heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Fill the cooled cakes using a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
