Description

A rich and creamy Indian dish made with marinated chicken cooked in a spiced tomato sauce, perfect for serving with rice or naan.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and chili powder. Add chicken and marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat and add heavy cream, stirring until well combined. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Season with salt to taste and serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase the amount of chili powder.
  • Can substitute chicken with paneer for a vegetarian option.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
