Description

Indulge in these luxurious gold dusted chocolate profiteroles filled with creamy whipped cream and drizzled with rich dark chocolate.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup edible gold leaf

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine the water and butter in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Add the flour and salt all at once, stirring vigorously until it forms a ball.
  4. Remove from heat and let the dough cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  5. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  6. Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a plain round tip and pipe small mounds onto a lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  10. Cut the tops of the cooled pastry puffs, hollow out if needed, and fill with whipped cream.
  11. Melt dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl and drizzle over the filled profiteroles.
  12. Decorate with edible gold leaf.

Notes

Make your profiteroles in advance; store cooled shells in an airtight container for up to two days. Fill just before serving for freshness.
