Description

Deliciously soft and chewy sugar cookie bars topped with a rich vanilla cream cheese icing.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Spread the cookie dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
  9. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until creamy and well combined.
  11. Spread the cream cheese icing over the cooled cookie bars.
  12. Top with sprinkles if desired and cut into squares to serve.

  • For a festive touch, use colored sprinkles to match the occasion.
