- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Spread the cookie dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until creamy and well combined.
- Spread the cream cheese icing over the cooled cookie bars.
- Top with sprinkles if desired and cut into squares to serve.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- For a festive touch, use colored sprinkles to match the occasion.
- These bars can be made ahead of time and stored for up to 3 days.
