Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of cheese (Gruyère or Emmental)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • 1 cup of milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat, add flour, and stir to create a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Assemble the toast by placing ham and cheese between two slices of bread.
  5. Spread the roux over the top of the sandwiches and place them on a baking sheet.
