- 2 large onions
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil (for frying or baking spray)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) if you choose to bake these delightful chips.
- Slice each onion into rings approximately 1/2 inch thick.
- Prepare your dredging stations: In a bowl, mix flour with salt and pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs, and in a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
- Coat each onion ring: Dip the rings first into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally roll them in the breadcrumbs.
- Arrange the coated rings on a baking sheet. If baking, sprinkle cheese generously over the tops.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy or fry in hot oil until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For an extra kick, add spices to your breadcrumbs or experiment with different cheeses.
