Description

Delightful twists of cinnamon roll dough baked to golden perfection, offering the traditional flavor of cinnamon rolls in a fun and interactive way.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Stir gently to blend the dry ingredients.
  2. Heat the milk and melted butter until warm (not boiling). Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients along with the egg.
  3. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon to create your aromatic filling.
  6. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture all over.
  7. Cut the dough into strips approximately 1-2 inches wide. Twist each strip gently and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Cover the twists and let them rise again for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Once risen, bake for about 15-20 minutes or until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
  10. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with milk until smooth to create a glaze. Drizzle this glaze over the warm twists as they cool slightly.

Notes

For an extra touch, add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling for a delightful crunch.
