Ingredients

- 1 pound sponge cake
- 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1 cup custard
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1/2 cup sherry or fruit juice
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Cut the sponge cake into cubes.
- Layer half of the cake cubes in a large trifle dish.
- Drizzle half of the sherry or fruit juice over the cake.
- Add a layer of mixed berries on top of the cake.
- Spread half of the custard over the berries.
- Add a layer of whipped cream on top of the custard.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Finish with a layer of whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, use fruit juice instead of sherry.
- Feel free to customize the fruit based on seasonal availability.
- This dessert can be made a day in advance for convenience.
