- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 3 ripe pears, sliced
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Flour for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and transfer it to a baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the sugar and stir until it turns golden brown.
- Add the sliced pears, vanilla extract, and cinnamon to the caramel, cooking for a few minutes until the pears are slightly softened.
- Pour the caramel-pear mixture onto the center of the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
- Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling, pleating as necessary.
- Brush the edges with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- Can substitute pears with apples if desired.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
