- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 1 lb Andouille sausage, sliced
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the sliced Andouille sausage and cook until browned.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream, stirring until the mixture thickens.
- Add the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; mix well.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until well combined.
- Serve hot and enjoy your Cajun Mac Cheese!
Notes
- For extra spice, add more Cajun seasoning or hot sauce.
- This dish can be baked for a crispy top; just transfer to a baking dish and broil for a few minutes.
