Description

A rich and moist butter rum cake enveloped in a glossy rum glaze, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup dark rum
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your Bundt pan by greasing it and dusting it with flour.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, blend the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, taking about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition until you achieve a smooth consistency.
  4. Add Rum and Vanilla: Stir in the dark rum and vanilla extract, allowing their rich aromas to fill your kitchen.
  5. Whisk the Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, ensuring they are well mixed.
  6. Combine the Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk until just combined. Take care not to overmix—this ensures a light, fluffy texture.
  7. Fold in Walnuts: If you’re using walnuts, gently fold them into the batter for an added crunch and flavor.
  8. Transfer to Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth out the top.
  9. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool the Cake: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a lighter flavor, you can use white rum instead. Pair with fresh berries or a dollop of whipped cream for extra delight.
